My story: A journey of identity and belonging
Welcome to my story. It is not a mere story of a happily ending tale, but a very personal account of adoption. And in this case, you will get a glimpse into my life, new starts in Canada as well as struggling with stereotypes. It is my hope that you will learn something new and get a closer insight and compassionate experience of the diverse lives of adopted people.

A new chapter: Arriving in Canada
My life changed drastically when I was adopted and welcomed in Canada in 2007. This was the start of the new life with its exciting opportunities and meeting my loving family. It was a discovery period and the making of my life as I recognize it today.

Opportunities and the gift of family
Adoption has given me unbelievable opportunities and the affection of a loving family. It gave a platform on which I grew, educated and belonged which has made me who I am today. These good experiences are an invaluable part of my story, as they prove how significant the adoption could be in the life of a person and his personal growth.

Beyond the surface: Stereotypes and assumptions
Though adoption was accompanied with much joy, there were other experiences that people do not necessarily see. Most of the time, the path of an adopted person includes stereotypes, assumptions and intrusive questions. These experiences have taught me to be resilient and the need to promote a more in-depth interpretation of various individual experiences.
